Summer Rider 3D is a casual endless racing game with a water sports theme. The player's goals are to beat their best all-time score in 1 Player mode or another player in 2 Player mode. Additionally, they attempt to earn a score that ranks high against other online players on Today, Week, Month and All Time Top 5 global leaderboards.
The player races across the water on surfboards, paddle boards, inflatable boats and jet skis. They can make their watercraft jump into the air, slide left or right, and skip off the surface of objects.
During a run, the player collects standard and multiplier starfish by directing their watercraft through bubbles. They can this currency to upgrade their watercraft. They can earn additional starfish by viewing advertisements. At the end, they receive a score next to a double surfboard icon.
As with other endless racers, Summer Rider 3D features a wide array of obstacles, such as falling pillars, huge boulders, rocking buoys, sharp rocks, sliding logs, tall grasses and cattails, trees and waterfalls. The obstacles and waterways change by position and type with each new run.
Other elements also appear. For example, the player might have to deal with an incline and chasm on one run and two pathways inside narrow archways blocked with red fences on a different one.
When the player loses, they can revive their play. They merely need to view an ad video.
